Registering a secondary establishment in the trade register
Every place of business opened in addition to the registered office or main establishment (branch, agency, warehouse, sales outlet, workshop) must have a secondary registration in the trade register. It is made by reference to the main registration, in the same wilaya (province) or another one. For a company, the CNRC's base fee is 7,200 DA, plus 240 DA per additional activity code.

What this form is for
The 2015 executive decree defines "secondary registration" as any registration covering secondary activities carried out by a natural or legal person: either an extension of the main activity or other commercial activities, set up in the wilaya of the main establishment or in other wilayas.
The 2004 law on commercial activities adds that any secondary establishment is registered by reference to the main registration. A secondary establishment is therefore a new location of the same business, known to the register.
| Your plan | Formality |
|---|---|
| Opening a second shop, a warehouse or an agency | Secondary registration |
| Moving the registered office without keeping the old premises | Amendment of the register (transfer of office) |
| Adding an activity at the same place | Amendment of the register (new activity) |
| Starting an activity with other partners and separate accounts | New company, new main registration |
Who must file it
The obligation applies to companies and sole traders alike, as soon as they operate a place in addition to their main establishment. The application is signed by the holder of the register entry: the trader, or the company's legal representative. A representative can file with a power of attorney.
- An SARL with its registered office in Algiers that opens a warehouse in Blida.
- A trader who opens a second sales outlet in the same municipality.
- A company that opens a sales agency in another wilaya.
- A manufacturing business that opens a workshop separate from its registered office.

- Copy it exactly: the secondary registration is linked to it.

- Address of the establishment
- Zone d'activité des Exemples, lot 7, Blida (fictitious)
- Activity carried out there
- Storage and distribution of office supplies (example)
- Use the title and code from the activity classification; each additional code costs 240 DA.
- Proof of occupation
- Lease in the SARL's name, dated 01/10/2026 (example)
- Person in charge of the establishment
- Name Surname (example)
- Planned opening date
- 01/11/2026
- Legal representative and signature
- Name Surname (example), manager, with the stamp
The lease must be in the company's name and at the establishment's exact address. A lease in the manager's name gets the file rejected.
Filling it in, step by step
- 1
Classify your plan
A new place in addition to the office: secondary registration. A simple move: amendment. A regulated activity: check the licence.
- 2
Sign the lease in the business's name
Exact address of the establishment, exact name of the company or trader, long enough term.
- 3
Company: formalise the decision
Decision of the manager or partners to open the establishment, if your articles require it.
- 4
Choose the activity codes
Use the titles from the classification for what you will do at the establishment. Each additional code increases the fee.
- 5
Fill in the form
Main number, type and address of the establishment, activities, proof of occupation, signature.
- 6
Pay and file
Pay the fees and lodge the file at the competent CNRC office.
- 7
Inform the tax office and other bodies
Report the new establishment to your tax office, to the CNAS if you employ staff there, and to your bank and insurer.
Where to file it
The file is lodged at a local CNRC office. When the establishment is in a different wilaya from the registered office, ask both the office for your registered office and the one for the establishment's wilaya which of them handles the file and which copies it wants: we found no published rule settling this.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Secondary registration, one activity code | 7,200 DA |
| Each additional activity code | 240 DA |
| Individual (sole trader) | Separate fee, ask the office |
| BOAL publication, where applicable | Extra |

Deadlines
Register before you open the place to the public or start operating there. A warehouse or sales outlet running without registration exposes the business to the penalties of commercial law during an inspection, and you cannot invoice properly from that address.
The timing depends mostly on the lease. Plan for the lease or deed in the business's name, the opening decision for a company, then filing at the office and processing of the file.
| Body | Why |
|---|---|
| Tax office | The declaration of existence of a business with several establishments is a single overall one listing secondary activities and their addresses |
| CNAS | If employees work at the new establishment |
| Bank and insurer | New place of business, insurance for premises and stock |
| Customers and suppliers | Delivery or collection address |
Common mistakes
- Opening the warehouse or shop before it is registered.
- Signing the lease in the manager's name instead of the company's.
- Confusing a secondary establishment with a transfer of registered office.
- Declaring an activity not covered by the company's objects.
- Forgetting the licence for a regulated activity carried out at the new establishment.
- Adding needless activity codes, which increase the fee.
- Not reporting the new establishment to the tax office.
- Thinking a domiciliation address can serve as a warehouse or sales outlet.
Frequently asked questions
What is a secondary establishment?
A place of business opened by a company or trader in addition to its main establishment: branch, agency, warehouse, sales outlet, workshop. It is registered in the trade register by reference to the main registration.
How much does secondary registration cost?
For a company, the CNRC's base fee (Order of 31 October 2016) is 7,200 DA for one activity code, plus 240 DA per additional code, excluding BOAL publication. Individuals pay a separate fee. The office confirms the amount.
Do I need a new company to open in another wilaya?
No. The 2015 decree provides for secondary registration in the wilaya of the main establishment or in other wilayas. The same business can operate establishments in several wilayas.
Which office do I file with?
We found no published rule settling this for an establishment in another wilaya. Ask the office for your registered office and the one for the establishment's wilaya before you file.
Do I need to inform the tax office?
Yes. According to form G n°8, a business with several establishments files a single overall declaration listing its secondary activities and their addresses. Report the new establishment to your tax office.
My company uses a domiciliation address: can I open a sales outlet?
Yes, as long as you have real premises for the outlet, with a lease in the company's name. Domiciliation sets the registered office address; the outlet is registered as a secondary establishment at its own address.
How do I close a secondary establishment?
By informing the CNRC office about its registration and the tax office about the partial cessation. The business itself carries on. Ask the office for the exact formality.
Can Neuron handle it?
No. Neuron only fills in business setup forms and does not do bookkeeping or routine returns: this guide is free and all you need to do it yourself.
